Actually the components are mostly real. I know someone who worked where they built the perfect looking sandwich/burger model. It is involves a lot of food waste to find the best looking parts to use for the photo. Rather shameful what is done to create the perfect image. Now for cereal, yeah you wouldn't want to eat what was pictured. The milk is really white glue.
Here in sunny California, avocado is applied to virtually everything. Omelettes, burgers, burritos, holistic vegan sprout wraps made with gluten-free tortillas... it's the green salve that magically turns every dish "Californian".
Just wish we could get some that actually taste like something more than just "vaguely cool, green and smushy".

That's what advertising or marketing is all about: Making the customer (read mindless dolt who can't decide on anything *the ad executives definition*) NEED what is being sold by whoever. It doesn't matter if it's good or good for them, just make them open their wallet or slide that credit card and move on to the next 'customer'.
And this is why Mad Men was so awesome. It showed what REALLY went on in Ad Agencies, AND what they thought of the public they were doing this to. :D
Great Cartoon Mike. I would love to see a whole series of these put into a book or web page. :D

Well, when done with appropriate portions, and as long as the avocados were on special, and I HAD a wedge of blue cheese sitting in the fridge... I can;t help but note there were no objections when I whipped them up for dinner. As for blue cheese on a burger, most of the time it's done by folks who grill the burger to a hockey puck, and then use a salad dressing alone... needs REAL cheese, done right... Worth the effort. If nothing else, using a decent bacon helps.
