Well I got my new MacBook on Wednesday [omg YES!] and bought a USB piano peripheral to go with it. This submission is the fruit of a day's screwing around with GarageBand, which I still don't entirely have the hang of. This is a rough copy so there are a few off-key notes... I'm also having some trouble trying to classify it. Any suggestions to either the song or a theme would be appreciated. ^.^

Wow, for your first electronic piece, this is nice.

The intro is nice, just the piano, it makes it calming & soothing.
The breakbeat at 0:48 is nice. It makes the song suspenceful.
At 1:12, the bass comes in. It should be a little louder, and it should be offbeat, but since the breakbeat is in there, I guess you can't do that. Nice work with that though. :)
1:36, a pad comes in. Nice work with that, it's just a tad too loud, in my opinion. I like the chords you used with that. It makes the piece more proffessional sounding than just using 1 note, as I used to do in my early works. I can't remember which pieces is was, sorry.
2:00... The lead should have more of a melody that being held. It should be arpeggiated somewhat. to make it sound like it should be there. It's also covering up the piano, which is the main instrument in the entire song. Make it a little quieter.
2:47 the lead just cuts out. You should've put a crash cymbal there to indicate change in the song. Only use crashes with big changes though, like you did.
2:50 the breakbeat just filters out. Don't do that, it doesn't work that well with electronic pieces most of the time. Again, you could've just used a crash cymbal.
The rest of the song until 3:42 is just piano solo. Sometimes that works, but to me, it needed either some strings, or the pad in the background to make it better.
3:42, the piano fades out. I guess you couldn't think of what to do there, but again, crash cymbals are your friends. :)
Overall, this is a VERY good piece for your first shot at electronic. You're on your way, and with what I've told you, you should go farther.
Thanks for reading possibly the longest review of a song on FA!
