Certainly looks cool and a nice set-up for a tiny story or idea.
You know, having left the last town a day ago in the hope to get to the next, you take a hike through the swamp, not believing in any of the camp fire stories talking about demons in the mud. Bravely you take your gear and go for a hike, trusting your skills and knowledge of those lands to get to the 'Floating Island' without getting stuck.
On and on you go, managing to not get deeper than your knees, most of the times even just around the ankles. Confident you will make the trip in a day, you have started at day break, but the floating island doesn't seem to come any closer, no mater how far you have traveled. Dusk falls, you grow tired and set up camp on the firmest ground you can find.
With the night the fog comes, ghost lights lure you into the deeper pits, but you know the tricks and stay huddled into your cloak and coat, slowly falling asleep.
The night goes without troubles, your clothes are damp, but it's bearable. The fog is gone, you look around, can't see your track anymore, but the Floating Island is still there, hovering in the distance. Another day passes without anythink notable happening.
Another night and you are still not much further than the day before, doubts start to slow you down, exhaustion and overconfidence are taking a heavier toll on you again. With resignation you decide to turn around and wander through most of the night, only wanting to get back home.
The next night is bad, really bad, you are shivering, you haven't managed to find a safe spot.
Soaked and trembling, you wake up, sure you haven't turned around all that much, but the Floating islands are in the direction you wanted to head to! Snarling, you turn around, wander through the fog, use some sticks to mark your way and test the ground, but as the fogs clear, you are still heading towards the islands!
Maybe there is something true about the rumors about the cursed islands...
