theoretically you are correct and it is possible. All you do is you make the batter a bit thicker then usual and add some melted butter. Stir in like 2-3 teaspoons of baking soda and let rest for a minute. Then add to the waffle press and they should fluff up nicely but i don't know how crispy they will get however.
