Awwwww. My heart goes out to poor Jay. It's difficult to try and sweep a ladyburd off of her feet, only to see a more talented male bird do it better than you. Awww. Poor, poor Jay!
Jay's sad expression and the wilting rose truly captures the emotions of this piece. Jay is looking at his wilted rose, rather than the beautiful Ria that he had always loved and adored. (Does Ria know how much Jay loves her? Has Jay ever expressed those feelings to Ria?)
Hopefully Ria will realize there is much substance in Jay. :)
