Most of the WAASS ships were coastal patrol/SAR, short range smaller types. The Harpy was the only big endurance ship allocated.

Silly question, Helium or Hydrogen?

Not a silly question at all. The Albatros class were designed specifically as high endurance, high altitude ships, with an expectation of combat, and use double bagged cells, hydrogen in the middle with an outer bag of helium for fire safety. It doesn't garentee safety, but is better than nothing. Some other ships, however, were all one gas types, and caught out with peace time hydrogen instead of war configuration helium.
