tanuki + husky = tanuski! a critter that popped into my mind, vaguely inspired by Maui's Husky/GSD pup. East meets west... well, Japan meets Alaska. o.o Random drawing testing out gelpen, white chalk and 2B pencil on neutral (grayish) cradstock.!

Is that technically possible? I mean, tanuki does mean raccoon dog, right? Is it actually a dog, though? I don't know, I think that'd be neat.

Oh, I'm not criticizing the plausibility of it, in case that's what it sounds like. It's furry art, it's implausible to start with. I just mean crossbreeding a tanuki and a husky would be cool. And if it's possible, someone should do it. In reality. Yeah.

They are both canids, but are not classified as being in the same genus, so I'd say it's unlikely that they could be crossed.

When I saw the name, I just thought it was a Russian Tanuki. And, looking up their range, it ends up they do live in Russia. Convenient.

Cute, and an interesting combination of critters. Body seems a little thin though, Huskies are robust, and Tanooki are husky, so it seems to me like he'd be more robust, or maybe even a little chubby.

Just a thought. :) Still gets full points for cute and imaginative.
