A few weeks back
Vinchenzothejackal and
Murrahnithahn-i-ia and I got into a discussion about furry species snobbery, and Vinny mentioned someone with a sea slug 'fursona' who'd been snubbed by people with the more socially acceptable fursonas of things like foxes and dragons. So of course I wanted to draw a sea slug furry, since I rather love the little things.
This is the awesome Blue Dragon sea slug, Glaucus atlanticus, my favorite kind. If you're a seaslugologist and want to point out that they're counter-countershaded and I've colored it in upside down - I know. I did that on purpose ;) just looked better that way, to me.
Oddly enough, I did the rough sketch before seeing this nifty specimen http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1321962/ by Murrahnithahn-i-ia - apparently great minds think alike, since we came to exactly the same mermaidy anatomical solution for a human/nudibranch hybrid.

Sweet! I was trying hard as hell to figure out why it seemed familiar that somebody would be drawing a many-tentacled sea-creature. The colors & light are really beautiful, and the pinkness of hands, mouth, underbelly, awesome. Plus those big staring eyes and expressionless frowny face creep me right out.
*blushes at you for calling her a "great mind"...* I could reply with "so do warped ones..." Heh. Beautiful glaucus this... Odd how we came up with very similar poses, too.
No worries, it's happened to me before, with this wonderful artist;
I'd posted my piece in WIP form shortly before he posted his, and the full-colour version of mine was posted shortly after his still uncoloured WIP.
The poses are nearly identical, but seen from opposite sides, and the background makes me wonder if we were sharing a brain briefly. Here they are for comparison, if you're interested.

I love your art, hon!
