"Why me?" She asked as the sun started to melt into the evening. His lips twisted into the fainted hint of a smirk.
"Why not?" He asked. She frowned.
"I'm weird. I am pink, and, ze skunk, and I constantly shave you...zare are...tens of hundreds of thousands of ozhar girls...why me?" She persisted.
He drew in an airy breath of the evening air and smiled.
"It's...well there's only one Claire LaMouf...I could search all over the world, but you've got that smile. The way your lips curl back, and you show off your teeth when you really giggle. Yeah...When you smile, it's a lot like the stars...I could stare at it forever...No other girl's got a smile like that." He explained. She smiled. That wonderful, lovely smile again.
"You're good at that." She grinned. A feigned innocence twinkled under habitually worn goggles.
"Good at what? Telling the truth? Mum says that should always be your first option. " He grinned. She did it again. That smile. A smile that froze time, and stretched for eternity, trapped in the moment, and glittering like gold in the backs of their minds. An eternity of moments, as the stars trickled into view, and he wrapped an arm around her. And she wrapped an arm around him.
And he smiled at her.
And she smiled back at him.
And together they watched the stars.
