Me too. weilding a hot glue gun is scary around fur o _ o so many near misses with the point hitting fur.

it's definitely a lot of fun :D best thing I can advise that I've figured out is don't be afraid to take your time with it since the foam work is probably one of the most important parts to get right *and definitely look at a bunch of different peoples foam bases to get an idea of where you wanna go with it :P*

Yep, technically. I started one a while back but scrapped the project, but I've done a lot of sculpting stuff in school, and I used to do a LOT of cosplay back in the day. I've done SOME trial and error stuff before I started on this, but getting this far, yup, first one ; w ;

well XD I literally worked all day on it when I was sculpting o w o I even sculpted a little clay version of saiki to sorta use as a reference for how I wanted the muzzle shape and stuff to work. and probably watched about a million tutorial videos from different suit makers and stuff to sorta see how doing one thing with foam ends up looking like THIS while doing this other thing with the foam ends up looking like THAT when it's furred *and... looking.. at some not-so-good suits and their foam work before and afters....* o _ o;

It's been over a year in getting myself to actually make a fursuit. The thought had crossed my mind when I first got into the fandom a bit over a year ago, and I looked at a bunch of makers and almost got one, but they were full at the time, and then I didn't have the money. So I started looking into actually making something, but version 1 of trying to make my actual fursona failed miserably *mostly because I'm fluffy, and they're skinny* and then I learned that trying to make your sona as your first suit is probably not the best idea because the suit will usually never live up to the original design :D so then I was like.. WELL, since it's been forever since I went to any con, let alone fur con *first fur con I ended up getting sick RIGHT before we went, and spent the whole con away from the con cause I didn't wanna get anyone else sick, it was awful* SO megaplex was gonna roll around and I REALLY wanted to do stuff that didn't involve being chained to an artist table, and I'm awkward and shy and my bromeo that went with me to the con brought back pictures and I was super jealous, so I've been trying to think of a design the last couple of months with no luck, sorta tried starting another head for a partial or something, got bored, scrapped it, and then BAM, last week I saw someone elses dino-dog-o-saurus thing and started doodling them like crazy and then Saiki happened :D He/She/It wormed it's way into the back of my mind, then the front, then I was ordering material and being a total derp about all things fursuit..

even if I wasn't, a lot of saiki's design is in their face, so I'da probably plucked away at it and tweaked and fudged it and retried things until I got it XD I was a little wary that I might have made the muzzle too long, but i forgot to think that fur would make everything poof up a little extra than it was, so now they won't have fat face :D

Stuff like that is pretty tricky to get right! The muzzle shape looks fab :D

X3 thank you! I think a lot of it actually came from looking at not-so-good suits and part way through building I realized i was working towards totally the wrong thing.

yeah. At one point I chopped the whole top muzzle off and just used it for scrap... so the muzzle turned into the eyebrows, lol

it's not my first first XD But it's gonna be my first finished :3 I've had some fail attempts that ended up not getting past the start of foaming, but I've done a lot of sculpture stuff through highschool and college, so it helped x3

I've been told I've got a really great handle on 3-D shapes u w u but trust me o -o my first one looked like it got hit by a truck because getting used to working with foam
