Robbin?

lol I know nothing of birds so perhaps as I said it was black with an orange breast and yellow beak I just thought the egg was beautiful so I snapped a photo

I'm sure she'll be back, she's probably just making sure the area is 'safe' before she does. Birds get scared off by lots of things and still come back, so I'm sure it will be ok. ^^

yay! you were right came back to.work and mother was sitting there glaring at me lol, much rather have her sitting on her egg eyeing me than leaving the egg abandoned

Yay! I'm glad to hear that. Birds don't, thankfully, abandon their young as readily as most people think they do. I found a baby robin once in my back yard (it was barely old enough to fly), and I took pictures of it, touched it on it's head and watched it for a small while.. And the parents still came back and checked on it and fed it until it was old enough to fly away. It was a fenced in yard thankfully and no preds got to it.
I bet you can't wait to see the baby bird when it hatches huh?
