Heh, well, it's not really my creation - it's really up to the developers to design the lore/flavour of each creature. I just imagine if you were friends with some, they'd make excellent scouts (small, fast, capable of flight), covert agents able to sneak in and out of places and bring back information or small items, and probably would have some magical ability, like illusions or possibly healing, helpful/useful spells like that.
