So, i've been quietly searching for a new packmate for my husky baby Tonk since this coming fall and this summer I will be busy busy busy with work, school, and such and it isn't fair for him to not have a friend to occupy him...he gets very antsy when I am away but does fine if he has another pup to occupy him. So, i've been combing craigslist, rescues, and animal services for available pups that'd be a perfect match for Tonk. I needed to find a male, because he really doesn't care for females much, and I wanted somebody older, because a pup (and a husky pup at that) is more work than both Tonk and I can handle right now. I kept coming back to this older fellow listed on Hillsborough's website, who had a sweet face and had a sort of unique glow about him. I wanted to go meet him and see for myself. He was listed as 12 years on their website, which I knew was BS...this guy was maybe 7 or 8 at the most. We went up to go meet him, and the shelter said oh he's not available for adoption right now. So, they gave me the wrong info, and told me to come back. I was pissed I couldn't even meet him, but one volunteer was kind enough to bend the rules and take me back to meet him. When I got in the kennel, I saw him, he was even more adorable and handsome than his pictures. He was bouncing around and wagging his whole back end with happiness. He even woo-ed at me. I knew he was the one. The only health issue or sign of his age at all was that he was rather on the chunky side for a husky, my guess was he was around maybe 65-75 lbs? But I fed him treats and he was just a ray of sunshine. This was my new friend.
Long story short, I had to have him. He was as unique and sweet as Tonk. So, they gave me another date to come back and adopt him. Well, I called on that day, and got a very rude answer from an employee, who told me oh he's still on hold. Then I was crushed because they wouldn't let me have him for another 10 days. I said I didn't care...the waiting has been agony, but tomorrow I can finally get him. I can rescue him from that hellhole of a disorganized kill shelter and give him the life he deserves where he'll be just as spoiled and loved as Tonk is. So, tomorrow I go get him. They open for adoptions at 10 am and I plan to be there right when they do, with pre-filled out application in hand. He'll be getting lots of exercise, and will be on a strict diet until he gets to the proper size. When he gets healthy, I also intend to train him to pull the sled like Tonk does every month. I might even train him to become my auxiliary service dog, to preform tasks Tonk can't, or if that doesn't work out, at least a therapy dog to help others.
He'll need a vet checkup, and a trip to the groomers as he is currently blowing his coat for summer. His adoption fee is also about a hundred which covers his neuter surgery and shots. So, in order to help Flynn i'm going to need some funds. I'm offering commissions of any type to help pay for what I need to take care of my new senior boy. I treat Tonk like a king and feed him the best food, have the best vet care for him, and make sure he is well groomed and exercised. Flynn will be taken care of the same.
So, i'll be doing PWYW artwork, badges, anything pretty much to assist in taking care of this boy. Just name your price, and i'll do it. Nothing ridiculously unfair of course (I am busy with school-prep and work and such)
donations can be sent to grumpydoggraphics(a)gmail(dot)com, and if you donate i'll do you a sketch or a headshot or something.
I look forward to adding Flynn to my pack and I know he's the right choice :)
****for anybody wondering and asking about him, here's his listing on the shelter's website http://www.petango.com/Adopt/Dog-Si.....Husky-22827822 (his name is Ice right now which is waaaaayyyyy too common of a husky name, so I changed it to Flynn like Flynn Rider from Tangled because he's a looker lol :P)

thank you! I have work in rescue (husky specifically) four about four or so years now and fell in love with the breed. They're funny, smart, and quite the trip. It takes a special kind of person to have one. Currently, our rescue has been flooded with dogs, and we have been unable to take any in. The one I wanted to foster to adopt got adopted, so I knew I had to take matters into my own hands. That's when I found Flynn, and decided since my rescue couldn't take him, I would. And...well there ya go.
