This reference sheet is a quick look at the Greater Splyap, covering all the basics of the species.
Greater splyaps are one of the less common creatures in Falgrove's woodlands, but by the same token they are one of the more dangerous. Standing around fifteen feet tall, they are able to still be effective ambush hunters both due to their marking helping them to blend in to the woods, and their four jaws that are used to grab and swallow prey, usually whole and alive.
They are highly aggressive, and voracious in their behaviour, and it is known that quite a few lost and adventurous people have gone the way of the Splyaps jaws. There have, however, been cases of people being able to extract themselves, though how is a mystery.
While named very similar to the Lesser Splyaps, Greater Splyaps are not a related species at all. The name Splyap seems to be a local tongue, now forgotten, which as far as anyone knows comes from 'Splay Yap', or Split Jaw.

They have a habit of being antisocial generally. While establishing territories in Falgrove is meaningless, they are still aggressive to animals that are within their field of scope. You may not be dinner now, but that doesn't mean you won't be caught for later.
There have been one or two cases of Greater Splyaps being used as loyal guard dogs of monstrous sizes, but such cases are rare, and do not often end well for everyone involved.
