My husband and I just purchased this little guy last night from some folks who were obviously not taking care of him. They for one have him in a horse bridal as a harness. He also was being fed Beneful which is noting but a corn filler and chicken by-product kibble. The people we bought him from got him from their friends and without speaking to their landlord. I was afraid with him being listed so cheap in the classifieds he would end up in a home just as bad off as his previous or with someone lacking husky experienced and passed around from home to home.
I was informed this little guy had spent 3 months in the animal shelter cause he had gotten loose, let alone loose with out tags or being registered. I tried calling the shelter that we were informed he was in, but they have no record of the individual we were told he belonged to. So I have no information or history on his vaccinations either. I then got in contact with the people who sold him to us and they told me they gave me the wrong name. I called the shelter again now to be told they can't share such info.
Please help me raise the necessary funds to get him vaccinated and neutered so he can safely socialize with other dogs and for his own basic health. Right now I only have the funds to purchase food for him (Blue Buffalo Wilderness). We had an extra collar he is using and a crate for him as well from our last dog.
He can't be neutered till he has his vaccines. These are the costs I am looking at through the Humane Society clinic (as they are cheaper due to being a non profit organization)
2nd set of vaccines 3 weeks later: $27
Neutering Humane Society $53.00
Preventative Heartworm medicine $36
Neutering at the Vet with recommended Blood work $260

Two fox sets would cover this little guys basic health needs. I have already paid $150 to get him out of his previous living situation and $65 between food, an actual leash with handle, and treats for training. He has had no obedience training, but is till a super sweet guy.
Any donations to my PayPal would be appreciated as well:

They will with us. We will strive to do the best we can for him. He thankful did not turn his nose up at the Blue Buffalo and ate it willingly. Been working on basic commands such as sit and come and better behavior on leash. He was getting the hand of walking on leash after awhile. The people we bought him from had him up for extremely cheap online and I was afraid he would go to somone with no husky experience or to the shelter again and not all shelters are no-kill. So we paid for him yesterday and he came with nothing but that horrible bridle and a horse lead. The people we purchase him from, got him from a friend who she said was not taking care of him. So he's been passed around.
I hope I can get him started on vaccines asap.

Aww your poor mal. I have a minor solution for you. Depending where you are, your state may already have a group established. Check out http://www.h2m2nation.com/find-us.html.
He has now been fully vaccinated and has had a few play dates and went to one of our group's meets. He isnt one much for toys, but loves other dogs and running. I am looking into urban mushing after we get him into some obedience training.
I am very sorry for your loss. *hugs*

Yeah. We try and keep our eyes peeled. So many of the shelters in our area are high-kill. Atop it, so many people are bailing on California or having to suddenly move out.... so they just throw thier dogs into the shelter even if they are high-kill. Its sad.
Incidentally, looks like there might be something in SoCal but sadly all the links on the findus page take me to FAcebook and a log in is required. Rats. Either way, our local dog park has been a great place to take him. I just wish the town would drop the new parking charge they have put on the park.

a parking charge at the park? That is lame. they should just charge a park fee once a year if that's the case. There are tons of rescues for arctic breeds. Out here in Ut, NV, ID, and WY...if an arctic dog get placed up for adoption after the holding period (a holding period takes place when an animal is surrendered or found),s then the rescues get a call and take the dog or dogs in.
In regards to the H2M2, each state group has a FB group that you can join and an admin should approve within a week or so. The group are for other arctic bred owners to talk, share information, and to set up play dates etc.
Not sure how far you would be wiling to drive to save a malamute but there is this rescue in Northern Cali:
