Quite the idiosyncrasy from the norm in my gallery as of late. Let me explain.
Work has suddenly been using me a lot for my graphic design skills. This is awesome because graphic design is what I've always wanted to do professionally, so this is something of an early career goal come true. Lots of vector work and sketching and storyboards. Let me tell ya, it's great.
An unexpected side effect is that in my off time I've suddenly been doodling anthro stuff again. Those who've known me for a while know I doodled a lot back in younger years, but dropped it for a variety of reasons around when I started wielding the camera to a higher standard. A big issue was harsh self-judgment which made the act of drawing a personal defeat every time when I couldn't measure up to the genuine talent out there. A stupid reason in hindsight. But now, at this stage of life, my give-a-shit-o-meter with self-comparison is grossly dull, and it doesn't bother me so much that I can't match the likes of the popular (for good reason) furry artists out there.
This is the first I've taken through to any sort of completion. Don't know if I'll be inspired to do more, maybe, maybe not, but that doesn't matter to me so much. I enjoyed the process of doing it and for a wild change am rather happy with the end result.
So... generic bird guy in undies. Not thrilling, okay, but I got to try out a completely vector process in the making which I find fits my style of hard lined drawing incredibly well. In the future I need to be mindful of doing more hard line work while sketching to mark out patches of color and such - with this guy I did any coloration completely freehand in vector which made it a little more troublesome to complete than it otherwise would have been. But in any case, I like the look, and if I do this again it can only get better!
