The defendant was arrested at the scene of the crime by Detective Gumshoe. The crime committed was murder and cause of death to the victim was asphyxiation by hanging. It is reasonable to believe the defendant intended to make it look like a suicide if a neighbor did not call the police and the detective found the defendant touching the rope after hanging the victim upon arrival.
