If she evolved it at level 8 or above, it won't learn it, if I recall. It learns Harden at level 7.

That is correct. Caterpie evolves at level 7 and "Harden" can only be learned by Metapod at level 7. I just checked my Full Pokedex and that is what it shows. So if you get Caterpie to level 8 (or capture one at level 8), it will never learn "Harden."

oh yeah, in the old games it wouldn't learn harden from evolving... or was it if you left it's evolution a level later?
Eitherway I remember making use of things like that sometimes. Can't remember how though -.-

I think the flaw in the old games was that it wouldn't learn it when it levels up and evolves at the same time. They added the 'learn attack at evolution screen' around the time of the advance games... if I recall correctly.

Oh lol.
From my memory, Metapod, Magikarp and that evolution stage before Beedrill were the most lame pokemon. I'd either run away from them for WASTING MY FUCKING TIME or I kicked their asses.

Kakuna. Magicarps are a pain, but they are worth it... until you get to Fusuia and are able to fish up a wild Gyarados at level 19 ^_^;

the old pokemon games are really fucked, even when you're not doing anything to specifically fuck with them. i had a mew that never learned transform, and my sister had a pikachu that tried to evolve into raichu all on its own when it got to level 20 or so.

Oh how I love fighting Metapods.
They're almost worst than fighting a Sandshrew (I'm not even sure I got the name right -- I only remember the french name :B) You know, the dudes who keep lowering your accuracy and then you fail 9 attacks out of 10 and then it takes ages to beat them. Really annoying.

in r/b metapod doesn't learn harden at level 7; only level 1. so only wild ones have it. they only fixed that in yellow.

I had one that didn't learn it either.

most of them would when they evolved though.

I always got a fire pokemon though so I would raise him up to a butterfri or whatever and use its confusion on all those stupid rock pokemons

I always had to catch a Caterpie in my games to have a Butterfree in my team, since you barely run into any other Pokemon that use psychic attacks that early on. At least he evolved quickly lol

Now I want to play my Leaf Green game... *does so*
