You're right. You didn't challenge yourself as much with this piece, but it's good to sit back once in a while and just doodle. You don't constantly have to challenge yourself to improve, though it does speed up the process, in general. Now and again it's good to take a break and do something easy and relaxing. I have certain poses and expressions that are easy for me, so I draw a lot of characters in such ways. I make the effort to try to challenge myself in some aspect of the piece, though. Lately it's been drawing hands/paws as I kinda suck at them. If you want to improve your clothing/hands/feet/whatever, then sometimes it's easier to have a few standard poses that you can practice with until you feel comfortable enough to broaden the scope of your work. */rambling* Sorry.^^;
