Here are examples of soldiers from the famed Waldian Heavy Artillery. On the left is an enlisted man wearing their red trimmed sky blue great coat. They also wear a kepi that is red with a dark blue band. Enlisted men will usually carry their shelter half wrapped around their body with a ground cloth rolled up with it. They also carry a Model 2548 Wellion Musket and regular tent peg style bayonet.
On the right is an officer of the Heavy Artillery wearing a standard dark blue frock coat with officer shoulder boards, in this case a captain, as well as a pare of sky blue trousers. On his head is the same red and dark blue kepi as the enlisted men except with a gold cord.
The Waldian Heavy Artillery were originally recruited in 2537 and composed of three companies to man the very large artillery defending the Volsa River near The Capital where they successfully beat off Zwieben invasion fleet attempting to take The Capital. This brave action caused a large amount of people to volunteer and lead to the creation of eight more regiments that tended to number around 1,500 men where the typical full strength infantry regiment numbered 900. As the war continued and the need for troops increased, four were brought out of the defenses on the coast and around The Capital to the front where they acted as infantry and participated in the bloodiest assaults of the war and earned them a reputation for fierce stubborn fighting. At the Battle of Gavok the 3rd Waldian Heavy Artillery, after capturing some enemy breastworks, refused to leave while the rest of the assault troops had retreated. It was not until 723 of the 1,057 and all the officers were killed or wounded did the regiment finally abandon the entrenchments.
Now the heavy artillery numbers only two regiments that remain in The Capital preforming guard duty and continue to garrison the local permanent forts.
