1984 Pontiac Fiero Indy 500 pace car.

Amazingly enough there were only ever 4 Pontiac's that paced the Indy 500 in the past. In 1958 a Pontiac Bonneville. In 1980 a Firebird, in 1984 a car like this and in 1989 a Firebird.

Taken at the June 13th edition of Fast Fridays cruise night in Overland Park Kansas.

You can see where the Fiero GT came from.I think this one had a 4 cyl. turbo engine in it.

heard rumors of turbo v6 fieros. Kits to put a northstar v8 in them are out there

I've seen one with a turbocharged Vauxhall "Red-Top" engine. Hooligan car.

Was it an ecotec engine ? As far as I know they are a GM global engine

I have one back home sitting in driveway, in need of repairs... Previous owner rear ended someone and the clutch control is broken internally. Haven't been able to fix it yet
