only that a privateer has a letter from his government allowing him to commit piracy for the sake of his king. for soem privateers this didn't do them any good, though, because they were executed anyway after the war. aside of this there ain't no difference at all.

exactly, but privateer sounds more official and less condeseding then pirate :P

which didn't help Klaus Stoertebecker by the slightest when they drowned him and hung his corpse, preserved with resines and bound by ropes, by the northern sea shore until the rope weathered away after nine years... and he had a privateer letter.

That's really cool. I don't think I've ever seen anyone use Sepia markers before you, but I really like the idea, and the images that you've created with them. :)
