I've always wanted to make a weapon for my fursona/character, Blue. The problem though, is that I don't draw inorganics well, and I've never been happy with the designs I've come up with. Another problem is that Blue... isn't really a fighter. She is, but she isn't really, at the same time. She's a magic user, but since she can't use her magic, she's not really that either. I had to come up with something that was... between the two styles.
This is a design I finally came up with that I'm actually happy with. I've alwiays leaned towards glaives as my weapon-of-choice.
So, meet Ryugokai. He is Blue's 'spiritual' weapon. Yes, he. xD He doesn't have much of a personality/intelligence, but he just gives off a masculine feel. "Fire of the Guardian Dragon", he has the look of a silvery metal, but even though he's made of all the same stuff, the shaft feels more like bone or horn than metal. That's because Ryugokai is a... manifestation of Blue's magic. He is pure magic, solidified into a form.
Because he's a part of Blue, he shares a lot of things with her. He's made of her magic, and he also has a bit of her ability to shapeshift. He reacts to her need to become the weapon that best fulfills that need. Mostly, the length of shaft or blade changes. He's too proud to actually change his beautiful form, lol.
While Blue has a block in her mind that keeps her from using her magic beyond shapeshifting, Ryugokai will act as a channel that allows her to access that magic. While she's holding him, she'll finally be able to cast spells. He'll act much like a mage's staff.
In this 'default' form, Ryugokai is about three feet long through the shaft. I drew it a little thick, but his shaft should fit comfortably in Blue's hand, the perfect size for her to hold and control. The markings along the shaft are cut into the metal, but shallow. You can feel them, but they're still comfortable to hold. The japanese kanji on the blade are his name. Ryuu, Go, Kai, respectively.
Keep an eye out for a second pic to illustrate the different forms he takes.
