"Sekhmet was originally the warrior goddess of Upper Egypt. She is depicted as a lioness, the fiercest hunter known to the Egyptians. It was said that her breath created the desert. She was seen as the protector of the pharaohs."

The Egyptian Myth I head was that Osiris got really angry with Humanity and took Hathor's angry side of her spirit, and the hot desert winf to create Sekhmet to destroy mankind. When she appeared in the City, everyone fled in terror, but a clever shop keeper convinced the angry Goddess that the jugs of wine he was selling were full of Human Blood. Sekhmet drank the wine with gusto, and then got so "Mellow" she forgot her original purpouse. Afterwards Sekhmet was regarded as both the Godess of war, and the protector of the home. She also holds the power to heal and represents the desert, especially the hot desert wind. As you can guess Sekhmet is one of my favourite Egyptian Goddesses.
I've always been fascinated by mythology in general, mostly Egyptian, Greek, and Norse (Age of Mythology FTW), but in terms of gods my favorite was always Egyptian. I've wanted to write a story about Sekhmet here for the longest time, though I've never been entirely sure as to what I wanted it to be about.
But back to your work here. I love it, her face escpecially. So majestic, yet so powerful and fierce! Very nice attention to detail, as well. Fav'd.
