You'd be surprised how many idiots I've seen make statements like:

I honestly have no idea how stupid anyone would be to happily exclaim the last one there, what with the fact we can't take a shit anymore without the government spying on us.

My state practices the castle doctrine and Stand your ground law, and if it came down to it, I will use it out of self defense if necessary, as would any responsible gun owner. Thankfully, my neighborhood and the area I live in isn't to the point I can't walk the streets without the fear of getting jumped or shot at. If anything, there are more good, law abiding gun owners in my area than law-breaking ones.

I mainly got this for sporting, trips down to the range and such to hang out with friends. Or a collector's item maybe, given that it is based off such a legendary and highly efficient and regarded American design.

Sometimes looks have nothing to do with it. The glock has a reputation for being reliable and budget-friendly, it works no matter what you throw at it.

The Beretta though, is another story. Some love it, some hate it.

I'm surprised we didn't replace these ticking time bombs after Desert Storm, where it jammed or broke down on so many soldiers back there. Then again, this is just another one of those poor military budgetary decisions made by previous administrations, amoung other things.

That's what happens when you try to fight a war on the cheap. Just like how the first AR-15/M-16s had the chrome barrel lining removed to save money, and were sent without cleaning kits, because "they would never need cleaning."

Not to mention that a lot of firearms like the Beretta and M4 mostly have aluminum in their construction, which is obviously nowhere near as robust as steel and the sort.

Hence the reason you see Kalmbach with an Enfield.

Budget mags on a 1911 are rarely good. US govt surplus mags in good shape should work fine. Outside of that, I recommend Chip McCormick mags. They're pricey, but worth it.

I don't know why they don't sell mags in bundles or packs of 2 or 3, probably would be comparatively cheaper that way.

THOUGHT they were 8-rnds, if I had read the listing correctly there WERE Eight 7-rnd mags. I got 7 of them (someone else hit buy it now for one)

Be careful. Local gunshop got a shipment of a dozen of those. Upon inspection, none of them had been test fired. He took it upon himself to test fire them, and the first three he tested all failed, one failed catastrophically, breaking off the framerails and letting the slide fly off backwards.

Mine came with a certification that it had been test fired.

I've actually been to the Rock Island Arsenal (I'm assuming that's where they got the name). Interesting place; once I get myself situated, I'll have to scan the pictures I took there. Yes, I was allowed to wander around a military installation with a camera, entirely unsupervised, although they did ask me what I was writing down. I just showed them my exposure notes for the camera.

Make shure before Ya use it you get a manual and strip it down, They come from the factory ready to fire but it should be inspected have the factory grease removed and replaced, and go through it with a cleaning kit. Not saying its not gunna work fine as is but its just a habit ive goten especially after my Savage 30-06. I got it from the factory new for my 18th B-day from my father went and test fired it out at the range and the barrel straps were not secured properly and the barrel grove in the stock had a knot in it holding the barrel offset. It testfired fine, but my scope was always off with it and after about 25 rounds trying to sight it properly the barrel strap busted and I got a 30-06 barrel in the face. x.x

But yuh A quick strip down is a good idea, Check for any facroty defects and if theres none wich more then likely there wont be then Happy Shooting. ;P

I stripped it down a number of times to clean excess oil out. Now I just need to get some oil to oil it up naturally after a trip to the range.
I fired it earlier today, and didn't have a single problem.

You cant go wrong with these new model RIA 1911s. Just got mine two weeks ago and ive already put 600 rounds through her. Oh I ditched the smooth, walnut grips and got some diamond checkered ones from Auto Ordnance. Feels much more authentic.

If i ever move to a state where i can open carry her, Im definatly going for some origional GI 1911 grips, but for now, im sticking with the stock ones.
