I am curious about this process and have only recently been introduced to Furcadia, are these usable in game? I saw
one of your newer commissions called localspecies, and on your comm sheet it shows you do Furcadia avatars. So is
it possible to import a custom sprite as your avatar in game?

Well, that is a very complicated question, LOL. Basically, as you know, furcadia has it's base species, which people don't have to pay for. But for dreams, they have something called 'localspecies' which basically means the local or native species to that dream, say if its like, an alien planet, or something that isn't a base furre shape. Normal dreams can have upto two of their own localspecies, for free. However, when you get larger dreams, group packages and whatnot, you can have upto 6, and even larger dreams can have upto 60 (sixty!!). What happens is, naturally, these large dreams (TGT, NV, and a few others) do not naturally actually have 60 different local-species for their dream, so the slots remain empty. In order to generate funds to keep the dream running, they rent out these spaces to random players who can afford the fee to have their personal localspecies in the dream. This allows people to have their own sprites, as you can see I do here, of their character. My characture has quite a lot of differences from the base avatar in Furc, so it made sense to me to make an avatar for him that was more correct to how he looks. Localspecies are particularly useful when you have completely unique characters. Likewise, people can use Localspecies in their personal dreams, if they have the spaces. So, for example if a character is say, a king of a kingdom, right, he can make his own localspecies where his character wears the crown, and he is the only person in the dream who can do so- though of course, if he wanted to, he could program the dream to allow anyone he wanted to be that localspecies as well.

Asside from Localspecies, Furcadia is also doing a Custom Avatar promotion that people earn by donating (an extremely high amount) to their Kickstarted thingamajig. Donate enough, and they will let you have your own custom avatar, everywhere, on any map, regardless what dream it is, but I think this is several thousand dollars.

So in short, yes, it is possible to have your own sprites in game, if you have the money to pay for an artist (me!) to make one, and to pay for a slot, if you want to use it in say TGT or NV, or of course, as a Custom Avatar if you have thousands of bucks to donate to Furcadia ^^. Its an indepth process, to be sure, I hope this answers your questions. ^^
