Only fair to show a pic of a con crimefighter.
Sam & Max Freelance Police, stars of video games, cartoon shows and their own VERY hilarious comics.
This is a fan made costume from San Diego Comic Con 2009.
Those who know the characters will tell you that is the only way to keep Max (or is it Sam?) out of trouble.

And I believe Sam is the sociopath who should never be left in any position of power, despite him ending up as President of the United States at one point.

Max is the dog with the huge gun.

Yeah, it was sort of a joke from the first comic where they said they were not sure who was who.

Didn't find out until a few years ago that there had been games, but it looked like the games were very adult oriented

Yeah, there was an early one from LucasArts and then later 2 games called season 1 and 2.
I think theirs are walk throughs on YouTube for them.

Max is the rabbit. And they both have guns.

There were comics, 1993 game by LucasArts, cancelled 2004 game by LucasArts and a series of about 20 short games by TellTale in 2007-2010.
