This photo was taken on the roof of my building during a lightning storm. This is Ridgewood High School. During the day, the building has a certain proud, baroque quality to it. During the night, Ridgewood High School is brightly lit by a significant number of high pressure sodium lights. All that lighting makes the structure look like a prison of some sort.
This particular storm had most of its electrical activity above and behind this school, at least from where I was standing on the roof.
I ran to get the best camera in the house and started snapping. Sadly, this was the only photo I was satisfied enough with to share.
It just sort of summarizes how I (and most kids, for that matter) saw school: A legal prison from which there was no escape. A crucible of gloom and doom...
