Those are just vines! Big thorny vines.
Wasn't really supposed to be suggestive. But I can see where people would go with that.
Think of them more like..cacti!

But I guess if that floats your boat you can pretend! Heheh

Down here the ceilings are covered in glowing moss. It doesn't provide much light but it does give enough that it isn't pitch dark, more..gloomy.
But sure maybe without sunlight..they could be the result of wild magic!
