2008 project.
This piece started off as an excuse to use my gold paint pen before it dried out, but it instead became the first in a long-running series of dragons whose colors are inspired by precious and semi-precious stones.
The Stone Dragons have become my most challenging subjects. Their bodies are wound around in curls and knots, and it can be pretty tricky to keep track of where the coils are winding, and in which direction the scales and dorsal ruff should be going.
Prismacolor pencil, gold paint pen.
