Edit: AUCTION ENDED
Well since i'm trying to save for a new tablet still, but dont have time for commissions just yet, I made another adopt~~
Moss Shark male (original species). They are characterized by unique skin which is finer and smoother than most species', resembling hair in places rather than scales as it clusters and grows longer in certain places. The hair keeps body heat in on land. Primarily aquatic but have developed lungs strong enough to breathe on land for short periods. They propel themselves forward with their tail and steer with the fins on their legs. Clothing is lightweight and usually only worn on land. Poor hearing out of water; the 'ears' on their head pick up vibrations while underwater. They rely on keen eyesight and smell.
-Starting Bid: $10 USD
-Minimum increase: $2
-Bid via the comment below. REPLY TO THE LAST BIDDER WITH YOUR BID
-Payment through PAYPAL ONLY
-Bidding ends 25th June at 8:00pm (UK time) Will post an update when its close to ending. If a bid is placed within the last 10 minutes, the auction will be extended a further 10 minutes, and so on and so forth until bidding ends.
The winner will received a full rez version and can name the character. I will adjust the sheet to include the name and any further details you want~ I will remove part of the watermark too
thanks x3

I just came to check on the auction because I was prerty sure it ended today.
I'm kinda diapointed. You say in your auction rules to reply to the previous bidder,
aclipes and
novaka1n didn't follow this rule, so I got no notofication of being outbid against. The highest bid still in the bid chain is actually mine, so technically speaking (if you follow your auction rules) the adopt should have been mine:X I understand wanting to get more money for him, but you kinda broke your own auction rule.
You've got adorable art, but if that continues to ve the case, I'm not sure if I'd feel safe bidding or commissioning.

I understand the situation, and I didn't realise this would mean you'd lose out because you'd receive no notification. Because I dont get notifications after the first bid, I made a habit of checking back, so I assumed everyone would do the same. I'd assumed you were no longer interested because you hadnt checked back and placed a further bid.
I will make more effort to ensure this doesnt happen again in future (this is only my second time doing an adopt -.-)
I did remind you via my journal about the adopt ending so as far as i'm concerned I did as much as I can to keep it fair to all who were interested, but in future i wont let this happen. (If i was truely interested in a character i would have kept my eye on it, to be honest)
I'm not sure why this would give you concern regarding commissions..? but for bidding it wont happen again

That's why assumptions are a bad thing:(
Most of the auctions I participate in have the same rule (replying to a bid chain, and if people don't reply to the chain it doesn't count) the artists and sometimes watchers, too, will remind people to bid in the chain.
Currently, I work two jobs, one of which is at a nuclear power plant- so for those 8-12 hours I don't have any way to check things, and when I get home I usually have to head straight to bed, so while I check notifications (like comment replies and notes) I can't always look at journals (and I know a lot of people who don't even read journals and just nuke them immediately). What I've seen some artists do is they'll take a cropped image of the auction and resubmit it with the time remaining (because they, too, seem to realize that people don't check journals?)
I'm not mad, by any means, but I think we can agree it could have been handled better.

I blame it on being new to this whole thing and I didnt even consider that being a problem so I will make more effort in future and moderate better ><
I'm sorry you missed out this time because of it.
I was working 3 different jobs last week ^^'' I know what its like, but because the bid was already so high I decided against posting up a reminder image because I did not want to sound greedy and desperate for a ridiculous amount of money when it was already past $100 ><

Hey I followed the rules. It was the person I was bidding against who broke the rules. They did not reply as outlined in the rules you posted and I was unaware that they hadn't. I wish raisay would callout just novaka1n for this mixup and not accuse me as though I did wrong. Ive always been honest in my bids. Always! Never cheated. I'm not upset with you but just want people to know I had no clue about the bidding mixup. And people ask why I left FA for DA.
I'm sorry things didn't work out. I really mean that but I always follow the rules and I was never aware that :icon novaka1n: did not reply to your next bid. I replied to novaka1n last bid since he/she was the next bidder. I've never been accused of breaking rules!. Never! Novaka1n broke that rule and I was unaware of his/her actions. I would appreciate it if you would remove that comment but if not no hard feelings. Again sorry that happen to you and I wish you the best.
I'm not going to remove my comment, I'm sorry. I realize it wasn't mostly your fault (and as I said to
RikDik I'm not mad about it, just more upset that the rules weren't followed, because had they been, I would have potentially bid more.
To be fair, though, you claim to be following the rules... if you were, you would have seen and acknowledged that
novaka1n broke them and either a) responded to MY bid since mine was the one still in the bid chain or b) responded to me, then told novaka1n that they weren't in the chain.
In all actuality, since it's RikDik's auction and rules, they should have been the one monitoring this. (Again, I'm not mad, just disappointed. Hopefully it will be food-for-thought for future auctions.)
I'm not mad, but the comment still stands. You did break the rules (as in, if you followed the rules RikDik set up and had followed the proper bid chain, you'd have realized Novaka1n bid out of the chain- you can very easily tell by how the comments are separated.) I'm not saying you did it maliciously (I don't think you did at all) nor do I think Novaka1n did either (I really do think it was a simple mistake).
You don't need to defend yourself to me, nor any other internet citizen. My comments are not meant as an attack, but as a simple observation. I participate in enough auctions (especially auctions that go into larger sums of money) that I'm accustomed to a certain "standard" of rules (again, not meant as an insult to RikDik, just an observation.)
I hope the whole thing can be a learning experience for everyone.

Yes I would have alerted you that something was wrong with the bidding. However unless your really really really paying attetion which I admit I wasn't your not going to notice. On my page it shows you bidding $30 and the other guy 32. You 35 and him 37. From there I made my back and forth bidding. I do not admit to breaking the rules but the bidding wasn't totally fair due to another bidders error be it accidental or intentional. And I do feel the need to defend myself. I've built a reputation for honesty and would like to preserve it. With that said I acknowledge you've been wronged but I won't take responsibility. If you feel the need to justify yourself any further fine. I hold no bitter feelings and I hope to move on.
"Reputation of Honesty"?
You're a nearly blank page, dude. You have literally two submissions, last I checked. What reputation of honesty? I don't know you from any other internet user- and unless you have friends here you brought with, the other random furries won't know you, either. Some artists won't even sell to pages that are blank. I'd also like to add that this adopt was your first visible upload so... yeah. not buying it.
At this point, I don't care about the adopt. I already have a shark character, I was bidding because I saw an artist who's art I liked. At the end of the day, no- it's not up to you or to me to enforce the rules.
I guess I'm just more used to auctions where all players involved are more honest:\ Maybe I've been spoiled with auctions, but most of the ones I'm involved in take place that way so.

Because of stupid stuff happening on FA along with other personal experiences which I will not get into I left! I found a better home on DA which I am well known on not as an artist but someone who appreciates other peoples hard work. http://titanosaurus64.deviantart.com . So yeah I have a building reputation. And I'm very proud of it. You don't have to click the link if you don't want to. Its for those curious about our....discussion.
I don't know who'd really be curious about our discussion, but okay? I've left FA before, too, and frankly I feel I have a decent reputation myself. I don't use deviantart because a) the site tends to get riddled with malware (regardless of how good your antivirus/firewall is) and b) it tends to be even more riddled with multi-accounts and scummy "children", so no thank you very much. I'll stick with FA, despite the issues that exist with it.
Also, my bad. I literally popped over to your page for a couple of seconds to see what you were talking about and only saw two pieces, I didn't read what tab they were under because I didn't really care about what they were, more cared about "how many"- which is indeed relevant to the topic at hand.

Just remember to check back every so often next time you place a bid on an auction ^^
If you say you're too busy to keep checking because you work, I also mentioned that I worked 3 different jobs last week so its unfair to expect me to constantly be watching it. I feel like i'm being blamed for people's lack of ability to read or follow rules... (I understand that i must moderate but if I am guilty of that, then you are also somewhat guilty of not paying as much attention to the auction as you could have been. you must atleast admit that)
Ultimately it isnt my fault you didn't think to check back or dont check journals (its fair that you are busy but so am I, but I am also not to blame for your work schedules interfering)
I guess I won't be doing a lot of future auctions >.<

As I said before, normally, I do so. I consider this as a weird one-off for me, because I worked more hours this week than normal.
I understand that you worked three different jobs. I don't know what jobs you worked, but as I said, I work 12 hour jobs at a nuclear power plant. I walk around in a hot and humid environment, up and down multiple huge flights of stairs, not to mention the types of gear we have to wear. I also CANNOT take my personal cell phone in, so for those 12 hours, I have no way to check.
I'm not blaming you for people not following the rules, not at all. But when you host a sale/auction on a pre-made item, yeah, most people kinda expect some moderation of the rules that are set up. If you're not going to be around to moderate, at least enforce them when the auction ends. It's not my jobs to make sure random furries a-z follow the auction rules, because (no offense meant) it's not me raking home the money on the auction.
No, it's not your fault for my work schedule interfering. However, nor is it mine? It's not like I specifically said "Oh, gee, I'd love to work ridiculous hours this week. Not only that, let's have my coworker not show up on time, so I'll have to go straight home and to bed if I want to get enough sleep for next shift."
Nor do I think that you deliberately stalked down my schedule and set up an auction while I was busy.
Correction. I DO check journals. I didn't check them as thoroughly as I normally do, because I was working stupid hours.
Fine, we'll cut it down to snuff.
1. It's one of your first auctions. I've already said, I can understand some booboo's happening, but you keep defending certain things that are, ultimately, on you as the artist/auction runner.
2. We both had a busy week. It's neither my nor your fault that we worked insane hours. The difference here, between you and I is this- BECAUSE you are the one running the auction and making money, you should have either a) extended the auction time until it ended at a time where you could moderate it or b) you should have had a friend moderate it for you. I, being a bidder who wants to spend my money, expect that a level of service be upheld. I am the one who's (potentially) paying for the goods and services you provide. You didn't enforce your rules, end of story.
3. Again, as I said, I hope this is a learning experience. If you decide to do fewer auctions, or no auctions, that's your choice. If you learn from this and moderate them well, I think they'd go fine. If you're letting this one experience sour it for you, well, that's even more reason I wouldn't want to participate :\
TL;DR- Yeah, guess what. As the host/artist/the person running the auction? A lot of this is on you. Rather than just taking the advice and letting it go (which I would have been happy to do so) you feel the need to argue and defend yourself and get the last word in with a potential client.
As I said before, I'm not mad over losing the auction. At this point, it doesn't really matter anymore to me. I already have a shark character, I bid because I wanted to support an artist who has pretty art.

It's just that I work as a cashier for one of the jobs, and 90% of the time, that job involves apologising to customers for things that aren't my fault >< Emotionally its draining.
Art is something important to me and if i can share it with people it makes me happy (and I'm doing this to save for a new tablet cause i've had the same old one for years and years), but if it becomes like my till job...its sorta upsetting. I wasn't trying to get a last word in, I was fine to take the advice but then another arguement sparked between you and the winner which involved pointing a finger at me, so I was just there like Q.Q kay...
It's not just this one experience. I've been on FA for years on other accounts and a lot of people have spoilt certain experiences for me, so me being 'soured' by this is understandable on top of that and it is not a singular anomaly. If I just need money for a new tablet I might as well work overtime on the till and get the same sort of complaints for more consistent money.
I take it as a learning experience, certainly, but ultimately I still feel blamed for the mistakes of others and you referring to my defense as argueing back needlessly because you think i'm trying to cause a scene is really upsetting. I apologise all day and get walked all over, I don't want it online too. I only wanted to try and stand my ground a bit, for once.
If i've unintentionally lost a potential client, I dont think it will have been the first time and probably not the last, and I'll just have to move on. all the best, sorry again that you missed out. Atleast I am pleased that you think my art is pretty^^

Believe me, I understand you. I did fast food managerial work for many years, and then did customer service after that. There's a reason I quit- I got tired of having to apologize to customers for their own stupid mistakes, get cursed at/berated for something that wasn't at all my fault (and often, that I had absolutely no control or jurisdiction over), got tired of having to be infallibly nice... yeah.
I prefer to refer to this as a discussion rather than an argument, but I suppose that's nitpicking. I did indeed point a finger, and I don't feel that it was a totally unfair pointing of the finger? I admit, I could have probably been more on the ball, but I'm unsure of how I would have done so.
I hate to say it, but I highly doubt I'm the worst. I've been (for the most part) polite, and I'm not angry by any means. I'm sorry other people have been dicks, and I'm sorry if those past experiences made me seem more dick-ish than I intended to be/was.
I don't think your arguing back is needless, nor do I think you shouldn't defend yourself. You have a right to do both, but there is a line in the sand that has to be drawn (especially being an artist like yourself- you've got pretty art, which means you have watchers.) Why potentially risk losing more than you have to?
I don't know what you want me to say. I've already admitted some of the mistake was on my part, I'm not blaming you for that. I could have been more on the ball. I'm blaming you for the rules that you set up and then didn't enforce, which I feel is a fair thing to blame you for. I don't feel that I'm "walking all over you" is fair to say, nor did I say your argument was needless- I do feel like (initially) you were trying to defer blame that was your own, though. I don't think you're trying to cause a scene, despite the fact that a scene is still happening. Maybe in the future, switching to PM's would be better.
I'll still be around. I might not get art from you in the near future, but you have (as I said) pretty art. I'd keep watching you regardless. Again, though, I'm not upset so much about the missing out as I'm upset that the rules weren't followed (and that because of that, the root of the problem) I didn't have a chance to bid again.

Trust me you are definitely not the worst... (Part of the reason I am on this account now, xD) Compared to many, you are actually reasonable and respectful. Especially compared to the halfwits I have to serve on the till -.-
I did admit to moderating it badly because I havent encountered this issue before. I will make sure it does not happen again
I just wish some people would read the rules to begin with and we could avoid this whole thing >< (It's similar to blaming the victim of a crime for allowing it to happen rather than blaming the actual culprit).
I have learned over the years of that I cannot please everyone, so I expect to lose watchers and customers as I go. Some people get ridiculous expectations -.-
thanks for your continued support~

Good to know I'm not too bad XD Like I said, I'm sorry if I came off like, super-dickish as that wasn't my intent.
((Pssssst. If you ever want help with that sort of thing, let me know. I know we proooobably got off on the wrong foot, but I did buying and selling for a collecting group for about five years, and I've done online admin work for a group of 3000+ members.))
I agree. That's kinda why I got frustrated- someone broke the rules, and really, who's the "blame" on? Technically,
aclipes wasn't the one who broke the rules first. Of course, maybe it's between my managerial/admin work in the past, or my two jobs now, but I'm a huge stickler for rules most of the time.
I don't think mine were ridiculous, but if they were, feel free to let me know? I'm not an easy person to upset or offend, so I'll still be around xD

aclipes wasn't the one who broke the rules first. Of course, maybe it's between my managerial/admin work in the past, or my two jobs now, but I'm a huge stickler for rules most of the time.I don't think mine were ridiculous, but if they were, feel free to let me know? I'm not an easy person to upset or offend, so I'll still be around xD
I was more referring to past commissioners who have never been happy, accuse people of ridiculous prices for their work, send things back to the kitchen when they're not perfect, etc. Those kinds of ridiculous expectations -.- and when I stand my ground I get 'well you've lost a follower' and I'm like, wow my heart bleeds. I think i'd be better off without followers like that...
Expecting rules to be followed and enforced isnt ridiculous its common practice.
I'm probably going to get more of that while i'm still saving. Euugh why are cintiq tablets so expensive *flop*
no prob^^
