Irish scian dagger/short sword
Based on a scian dagger fished out of the river Shannon in the 19th century.
These weapons were the signature sidearm of the Irish Kern.
Details varied, and written descriptions claim they were generally singe edged, sharply tapered and worn either at the belt in a sheath, or looped around the neck by a thong.
Average blade lengths seem to have been around 20 inches, but mine is 25.
Brass hardware- Unusual for scians, but the Shannon seax had brass fittings.
The pic is crappy.
I am still trying to get the damned camera to behave.
This piece was finished over a month ago and sold.
I just now remembered that I had not posted pics.
