This is one of my earliest attempts at drawing an anthropomorphic comic strip, using antiquated art equipment like light blue pencils, black ink Rapidograph pens, and Zipatone (for 'colors' and shading effects). The only change I'd made today (using my Photo Impression program) was replacing the handwritten monologue with 'Comic Sans' text, which looks much cleaner.
I realize that summer begins this week; so naturally, I'm posting a winter scene of sorts. (I'm sure that many of you who are experiencing heat wave conditions across the USA would prefer lots of snow and cooler temperatures, anyway!) Constantly hearing about the annual weather predictions from 'Punxsutawney Phil' the groundhog (a critter with more hair on his body than Willard Scott has on his head), I'd decided to create a character of my own - Pennsyltucky Paul - who makes the worst predictions ever, every February 2nd. This was his first (and possibly his last) comic strip appearance in late 1989 (several weeks before the actual date of Groundhog Day)...
