Well, I was deliberately vague about that because I'd like people to read the story, but seeing as you asked, he is feeding on Frothy's negative emotions of a traumatic event that has been affecting him for years. It isn't a pleasant process, but the results are worth it. It's harder on the changeling though, so it isn't done lightly.
