I used M&Ms for the chocolate pieces, since my mate loves M&M cookies so much :)
Double Chocolate Oat Cookies
2 cups (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate pieces, divided
1/2 cup (1 stick) margarine or butter, softened
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
¼ tsp vanilla
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup QUAKER Oats (quick or old fashioned, uncooked)
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt (optional)
Preheat oven to 375°.
Melt 1 cup chocolate pieces in small saucepan; set aside.
Beat margarine and sugar until fluffy; add melted chocolate, egg and vanilla.
Add combined flour, oats, baking powder, baking soda and salt; mix well. Stir in remaining chocolate pieces. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes. Cool 1 minute on cookie sheets; remove to wire racks.
Yield: 3 dozen
