Phah, don't listen or believe a word he says. He was probably just jealous of your skills! Because you had the guts to do what he didn't, and to keep going when he tried to pull you down.
Don't give up now, and don't feel bad.. It'll sell someday, and looking around i know you've got a few who are actually wanting a commission or two from you, but don't yet have the money to do so.
