A young, tired character will have the same set of wrinkles and any character that is unkempt will look rough.
He's still 58, he's needs a lot more wrinkles in different locations and some extra weight around his mid-section. If the ref said he was in his early 40s, then I could kinda see that. But 58 is pushing the suspension of disbelief.
