A Hike Down South
Happy Birthday, Chris!
I decided that the surprise would be a little early. This is a birthday gift for
of Kalahari and my weasel character Aleutia. They just went for a stroll in the woods in Georgia. Since Georgia Summers are so unforgivably hot, they decided to stop for a break and enjoy the nice weather!
This is a special piece as it's my first full-color furry drawing! It is also the first color piece featuring Aleutia.
I would love to hear any feedback, I'm open to critique! My first priority is to know areas of improvement to work on :)

I was totally BLOWN AWAY by this! I had a feeling some sort of artistic present was on it's way but I couldn't have guessed something so wonderful :D
You really developed Aleutia in this picture, and I'm happy to see more of her around :) The anatomy you use (like you've mentioned yourself) keeps much of the animals particular figure and attributes, which is a difficult skill to hone and one which I admire. The setting reminds me a lot of a hike on a hot summer day, and the color capture that feeling so well. It makes me want to go hiking with you again!
I'm so happy to have a full-size picture of yours as a birthday gift--I'm going to find a special place for this!

I truly am happy you enjoy the piece! Parts of it were experiments to try out a new style, but of course keeping my attention to details. It was great to be able to flesh out Aleutia a bit and get an actual piece with her made. And what better pairing than to have Kal in there too :) I would greatly enjoy another hike! Anything to get out in nature and fresh air :)
As for the anatomy, I quite like keeping it closer to the actual animal than proportionate human anatomy. It adds a nice little touch to help determine which species the piece features. Thank you for the kind compliment :)
I hope you can find the perfect spot!

Wouldn't have known this was your first full anthro piece. This is excellent :). I really like the way you texture (is that the proper term?) the fur...rather the way you draw/color fur to have texture. I like your style of anthropomorphism, like Chris mentioned. In Aleutia you did a good job keeping a longer body type, such as in the neck and torso. And I like her smaller hands and feet :).
I think he just told a pun, and you are not very impressed :D.

I really appreciate it! In most of my usual work, I do so much texture, so I figured I could carry that aspect over into anthro art :) Gives my own artistic voice I think! Also with the anthropomorphism, it's more fun to trouble-shoot how to make the character looks most like it's animal and stay anthro. (Plus I can get away with more anatomy flaws and it be okay.... *shhhh*). I noticed in my sketch of this piece that I made her body too long, but I liked that mistake and decided to keep it through her design!
I like your interpretation! XD
