I think my brain wasn't paying attention and latched onto the name from the bible. You know, that guy whose wife got turned into salt? His name was spelt "Lot", though. So yeah, should have known she was female from the spelling.
In my defence I'm not the only one who thought she was male, though. I spot at least two commenters below who thought the same thing. :P

Well, it could also be a cultural difference. I'm from europe (Scandinavia in specific) and that's a fairly common name, along with slight variations of it, over here, so to a person such as myself, it's very obvious, but to someone else, it might not be. In any case, I was more surprised than anything, I didn't mean to sound belittling or anything. :P
