I was about 9 when this was taken! Wasn't too many years after that I stumbled into furry.

Keep them coming, I love seeing this early furry history.

The early days of the fandom where people were much better behaved. I was only 16 back then, didn't find out about the fandom until 2005-2007.

I was 7 years old. Damn.

I am a fan of white castle cheeezburgers. and I recognize most of those faces. But I was usually working on the convention so was not able go on these off site trips. Ahh well.

Back in the days when I used to think there was only about 100 fur fans on the whole planet... Ah, it was a simpler time. I'm kinda surprised I'm still into this after 20+ years.

Philcon had the largest gathering of furries outside of ConFurence, til Trish Ny Started Furtasticon in protest to Philcon cause she never could get a table there (they sold out in 3 days on average) and Chicken Littled the fandom saying how Philcon hated furries. Yet at least 5 furries always managed to get tables on average...yeah, thats hatred towards furries.

The regular folks called Trish's cons Ny-Con cause she ran it with an iron fist. Perhaps thats why it only lasted 3 years.

That explains a few things. Furtasticon rings a bell, but I didn't realize it was so short lived. I feel like putting together a book on the origins of the fandom, most younger ones these days don't often realize there was life in furry before 1996.

Furtasicon followed by Confidence East one and two. One was in Newark across from the airport in ghetto-land and two was in Cleveland. Three was to be in Cleveland as well and thankfully never happened thanks to mismanagement.

Boy, this predates my furst (had to do it) misadventure by 7 years, i only get to point to AC 99 as my first con, and i suspect his was no where near your first.
