One of the big things I've run into, with selling any artwork, is that "I think this is awesome" doesn't necessarily mean "I need to have it." That's a really specific niche - and I'd imagine I'm not the only person who's picky about buying a physical object, because they might move soon or have limited space as well as limited money.
Back then, I also had a publicity-problem- namely the basement-dwellers who frequent YouTube and Encyclopedia Dramatica looking to drag my good name through the mud because I DARED to speak out against cyber-bullying in front of a camera while wearing a silly costume.
