Returning in all her glory. Seriously I geeked out when I saw the news on gearbox's reboot in progress of the Homeworld series.
So naturally i couldn't resist doing a little something in the meantime.
I tried to keep it reletively close to the style of the concept art of the games that's floating around the internet.

homeworld (the original) was /THE/ game that got me into RTS when i was little. I mean i had played a couple before it, but none quite captivated and compelled me like homeworld did (not to mention how angry i was when i saw kharak burning, hehe.) So when homeworld 2 was released you bet i played the living mud out of it. Then complex mod came out and boom, even more hours sunk into it.
Captivating is a good word for this game, for me at least.
And i love the battlecruisers (the vagyr one in the original, and both in the second). But the ship that won me over was the destroyer; When i sent 3 of them against the enemies four, and they all formed destroyer lines and just unloaded on eachother, But now i'm rambling XD

Dude, yes! I remember the first time I played (i was way young) and I saw Kharak burning, It was one of the first times I felt a NEED and a reason to fight the enemy. Not to mention the music and sound design choices in addition to the ship designs and the, for lack of a better word, feel of space in game.
It is one of the few games I played nearly religiously since its release all the way up to this new (and gorgeous looking) remaster.

Honestly, despite all its bugs [gearbox still has some ironing out to do,] such as the garden of kadesh and their units tactics/movement styles, adapting the single fight craft to have the evasive and aggressive tactics accordingly. In addition to a bunch of other nit-picks. I really love how it turned out. It looks /gorgeous/ and the million different details they've implemented into it are just astounding. Back to kharak once more, I think I spent near an hour watching the dang planet rotate/the weather patterns change and the dark side of the planets cities lights change as it spun.
I dunno, things like that intrigue me to no end apparently. I could leave that mission up as a Screensaver or night-light and not get tired of it.

If it looks even better in the remastered version then i'm in for a serious treat. I haven't as much time as I'd like, but i know what part of the game you're talking about and that adds so much mystery in itself, like it makes me want to go explore those areas with a "why does this exist" way, but i think it keeps things even more interesting.
