It's really not all that complex. Basically the same thing as being MtF or FtM (or whatever else you are, I guess) but instead of wanting to have what you've got replaced/rebuilt you just want the other fully functional set added in.

I know it's basically impossible, so don't remind me. I'm hoping there are at least partial strides in the field in my lifetime.

Yes, there are obviously some sexual elements to it (that's kind of what genitals are for) but no it isn't a fetishistic thing. There is some dysphoria around it. It's not fun.

If I had to assign a non-dysphoric psychological reason to it, I guess the closest thing would be the sense of pure balance it holds, similar to being "middle of the road" instead of a political party or being pansexual/bisexual instead of being attracted to only one group of people.

It's also why I wound up choosing a goat to reflect me, particularly one with ram's horns (which are hard to discern in this picture, but that's just a small oversight) which are commonly seen as a "male-only" trait in cervine breeds that have them. If you're familiar with the pagan Baphomet (not the edgy flat-chested baby-eater one of modern Satanism, ugh) they're something that represents the universal sum, a point of pure balance between all else. They're both male and female, good and evil, a representation of lust and of justice, et cetera.

I honestly see intersex bodies, be they artistic portrayals of furry herm characters or actual people, to be more beautiful overall than either "traditional" sex. Yeah, I also find most examples sexually appealing, but that's...probably the same thing as being gay, I guess. I dunno. I get uncomfortable with the really overblown hyper-cock-and-tits ones that are used purely as fetish fuel. Especially if they just replace either males or females in an otherwise identical social scheme.
