Events dealing with my father are still unfolding but I refuse to let it utterly dominate my life, so here is a return to my Equestria dreamscape.
I awoke in my assigned REWS hostel room the morning after the Lightning Lantern link link Festival link link in my Equestria dreamscape. It was about six and after staring at the ceiling for a couple minutes I decided to get up and start my day. Forty minutes later I had bathed, groomed myself and had finished myself routine morning preening. Considering myself presentable to the world I proceeded down to the hostel common room.
The plan for today was to go out and distribute as many of the flyers as we could for the upcoming Best Young Fliers Competition. This meant we’d be spending most of the day and evening traversing back and forth across Cloudsdale making stops at every bar, pub, nightclub, salon, youth-oriented boutique, college dormitory, and military barrack we could get into so we could drop stacks of flyers. This was Petina’s strategy to try and get as many ponies as possible into the stadium that would be more receptive to the “experimental” style of dance routine that Dash would be performing. Then tomorrow we’d fly back to Ponyville.
But before that could happen I needed some food and a cup of coffee.
The hostel did not offer regular food services except for a free Continental-style breakfast that was available to ponies staying at hostel. Since I had no idea when Rainbow Dash would wake up I decided to take advantage of the free dining. The food was presented in a buffet-style arrangement and within a couple minutes I had assembled a plate with slices of still warm, whole-wheat nut bread with honey butter spread on them. Accompanying the bread was a fruit bowl composed of sliced strawberries, blueberries, sliced peaches and dollop of vanilla yogurt, a glass of sparkling mineral water and a small coffee with cream and sugar completed my morning nourishment.
Scattered around the common room were copies of the most recent issue of the Cloudsdale Cumulus, the main newspaper of the city. It was fun to get a chance to read the Cumulus the day it came out since I usually only get to read issues that are several days to a week old.
In particular there was thing I was looking for, the comics section of the Cumulus. I especially wanted to read the latest installment of “The sky’s the limit!” which is a strip that has been running for years in the Cumulus. Although it has become popular enough that some papers in other cities have begun run it to.
There is one character in particular that I can relate to, and that is the happy go-lucky pegasus stallion named Impact Crater. He works for the Weather Service as a Cloud Recycler, which is a totally bogus but hilarious job title.
As read the comic I noticed something about the strip for the first time. The pony supposedly drawing the strip was named Wildfire. Now Wildfire is the name of Sabrina, Sibsy, Alberghetti [link] now show canon pegasi mare. It made me wonder whether there was tan and brown pegasi somewhere in my dreamscape drawing the comic I was enjoying. I would have to write the Cumulus when I got back home.
To be continued.
