So this is my Nalroni airspeeder technician, Wizel Dantig, prior to being pasted by a downed airspeeder on Coruscant and subsequently being cyborged. His modified antique Y-Wing, the Celanite Hammer, is also depicted, as well as his trusty heavy blaster pistol. He's currently seeking a way to regain his lost form - as well as giving back some of the pain he caused to those he blames for his current 'condition'.

Samaya could have gone in for regenerative therapy but by the time they picked up her body she was mostly dead. So they put in replacement parts to keep the rest of her organs from failing and went from there. It sounds like your guy has it a lot worse.
Probably eventually, she'll switch to synthetic organics, but it's still not the same as her original flesh and bone. She could also attempt going through regen, but it would take years for her to regrow that much meat, not to mention vital organs...and her bionics would have to be taken out, so there's a chance she wouldn't survive the process.
