Being from mainland Europe, I am required by law to have a soft spot for sweeping trance soundscapes. So when I found this old piece I did 2 years ago, I knew I couldn't let it stay buried in my hard drive.
I remember this piece was VERY hard to make: I'm a casual amateur when it comes to composing, and this is the only trance piece I've ever done. Also, this was done 100% on a KEYBOARD. No mixing, no sampling, no production, no software, no nothing. This was all done just working with the Arpeggio function on my keyboard, which is also why there's imperfections and volume differences: I actually had to play this, and because of the way the Arpeggio on my keyboard works I had to be very precise with my timing.
The end result is not perfect (really wish I could've worked some percussion in there somewhere) but I still like this piece. Three full loops might seem like a bit much, but two was not enough and because of the timing issues this literally took hundreds of takes to get to this point.
I don't think I'll revisit trance anytime soon, though. I've been looking more towards some good ol' piano lately, and of course there's my usual poetry and writing to keep up with.
But anyway, I hope you like this piece. And if you didn't, might I suggest either a short-but-sweet bit I did on the organ or perhaps a longer, more gentle piece on the piano.
Performed on a Yamaha Piaggero NP-V80.
This piece (and your soul) belong to me.

I just listened to all of the linked songs and the versions linked from them, as well as this piece here. I'm stunned by how beautiful they all are. I write Lyrics, myself. it's mostly on DA right now, but I'll be putting stuff on FA as soon as I figure out how to work the Submit commands. I'm beginning to wonder about doing collaborations with you, if that's at all possible.
Thank you very much for all the praise! I'm not used to my music being this popular
I'd definitely be interested in collaborations, though I fully admit: I've never done them before, especially when it comes to music. I'm eager to try, but I can't make any promises about the outcome.
Also fair warning: I do not sing. Unless it's karaoke night and there's a drink in my hand.
But I am eager to see your lyrics, though. Let's see what we can do together.

that's perfectly alright. I sing a little, and have been taking Bardic Voice Lessons. I can probably send you some recorded vocals if and when we do work on anything together. feel free to look at my DA Gallery, my DA profile is linked on my FA profile.
my main weakness is that I don't play much music. I'm an amateur at best on piano and drums. can't play stringed instruments to save my life.

Everybody's an amateur at music until it buys them lunch. If you have fun doing it, then just do it. The hours you put in will show through in your work, regardless of how much formal training you did or didn't have.
I'll take a look at your DA gallery probably the day after tomorrow. I'm gonna be busy before then (and my bad back won't help things) but I'm looking forward to it.

Absolutely agreed, and I'll probably try to add one in the future. But I have exactly zero experience with percussion outside of Rock Band & Guitar Hero (Expert level, but still obviously not the real thing), so it'll almost definitely be slow going.
Moreover, I am only just now getting into the idea of recording and combining multiple layers within songs (which may or may not have something to do with a planned future submission ) so that'll be a whole 'nother layer of inexperience and difficulty thrown in as well. As such I might try and do a few more simple songs in the meantime while I get the hang of all that stuff. Because the thing that may or may not be planned may or may not also be a little... big. Maybe

I'm good for the music fundamentals, thanks: it's been quite a few years since I was in high school but I do actually remember the music classes I took back then. I might take you up on that offer regarding the percussion, but only after I've tried and failed on my own (no offense intended, I just like to figure this stuff out by myself if possible). If you happen to have any suggestions for good music-editing software, though, I'm all ears (never mind the fact that in none of my commissions I've ever been drawn with visible ears )
hey, no sweat. I totally understand. ^_^ I would suggest Fruity Loops, but the free demo is pretty crap. if you can get your hands on the full version, as well as a .wav converter and mic, it's really one of the best types of software you can use for this kinda thing. buying the extra sound files you might want to use can be a pain, though.
