WHEN WAS THIS DOLL MADE? <--- this MUST have a date because it matters as some dolls may be several years old and the public should know its age.
March 2014
WAS THIS DOLL A PROTOTYPE? <--- prototypes typically are discounted due to flaws that the artist is working out on their new design, please mention if this was a prototype.
Nope
COMMUNICATION
-was the artist prompt, professional? easy to work with? -if this was a commission, was there a back and forth with the artist? how quick were the responses?
-if this was a pre-made, were you notified when the item was shipped and given tracking?
She was incredibley friendly, very helpful, and did a fantastic job bringing my character to life!
DID THEY MEET YOUR DEADLINE?
She said 10 weeks, it was completed in 9 :)
HOW WAS THE ART DOLL PACKAGED?
-did the artist meticulously package the doll so that it would be safe in shipment. did the artist use an appropriately sized box? did the artist use packing peanuts, bubble wrap, newspaper, etc.
-did your doll come with special instructions for unwrapping?
Yes, it was very tightly wrapped. It even came with a lovely note from the artist and a cute drawing :3
DID YOUR DOLL ARRIVE IN ONE PIECE?
-if your doll contained clay parts did they arrive okay? did you have to do some repairs as soon as you got it?
Yep ! It was perfect. I was even a little nervous about the hands as the figures look so fragile. But they were all there :)
WAS YOUR DOLL SEWN?
-was your doll sewn together, maybe glued in specific areas that may have otherwise been to difficult to sew with machine or by hand?
-was your doll completely glued together or assembled with another material that is not a traditional means to assemble a doll. [b]
I asked the artist before commissioning her, she actually does glue the seams. However it is done in good taste because the base of the doll is not squishy and filled with polyfill, it is a sold base. She also uses real fur and explained that sewing the fur did not work well and could destroy it.
[b] IS YOUR DOLL FLOPPY STYLE OR ARTICULATED?
-if your doll is articulated, was it wire? is the wire sturdy, too loose or too stiff? is there any wire breaching the doll anywhere?
-was the doll's armature ball socket joint? did the jointed doll come un-damaged?
-if the doll was floppy style, were the limbs attached so that it wasn't coming apart due to heavy doll parts at the feet and hands?
The doll is articulated however I am not even sure how it is done ! I think it is wire, but as stated before the base is solid so i cannot really tell whats going on inside. Never the less, it seems exremely sturdy. Rather than being "fully poseable" she has "joints", she she only bends at the shoulders, wrists, and elbows (The head, body, and legs are slightly poseable) which is pretty awesome and keeps her looking more life like.
STABILITY, IS YOUR DOLL STABLE?
-if your doll was meant to sit upright, does it do this effortlessly?
-if your doll is meant to stand, can it do this on its own or does it need support? (BJD is excluded as it is customary to have a stand for them or position them in a sitting style).
She sits perfectly. No worries of her falling or getting off balance.
DOLL DETAIL
-if the hard parts are painted, is it well done? Does the paint chip?
-are the hard parts sculpted well? If they're cast were they sanded and cleaned up?
Her sculpting style is very simple and very affective. Her painiting was spot on and looks great. I gave her alot of artistic freedom and she really wnet wild with it ! :)
FABRIC DETAILING
-if the body had a pattern, were the details sewn on, glued on, painted on? How was the quality of these details?
-if the details are painted, how is the quality?
-is the fabric cleanly attached to the hard parts? are there un-trimmed fabric pieces? Is the fur mottled with glue?
There is some glue bits but as stated before she is completely glued. No glue is visable or junky looking. She did gie her a few spots and patterns with the fur but alot of the patterns were revealed when she shaved down the fur itself
MATERIALS
-Is the fabric used cheap? Do the fibers fall out easily?
-are the accessories picked out with care? are they attached well?
-any other materials that may have been used but not covered.
Yes, everything is perfect ! Real fur, gems, sculpy clay etc
WOULD YOU BUY FROM AGAIN OR RECOMMEND?
Absolutely ! I can say with confidence this is an artist to buy from ! I have had some rough expieriences in the past with commissioning artist and this was my most pleasant (and well priced...) expierience yet !
