I wanted to make a well defined and illustrated painting for the AA fantasy contest.

I used a level of environmental experience to really capture the mood and atmosphere of the painting, this is actually a great improvement since my last painting.
Even though I intended for the creature to have a different color palette I decided to keep the original palette and just add some small body color features like the fluorescent blue with a little purple on the shoulder blades, ears and around the face.

The background worked quite well for me this time. The foliage and the terrain along with the cloudy sky and rain worked smoothly together when I added a mist to create a mellowed rainstorm effect.

Unfortunately my experience with ruins are not as well structured as I'd hope for but there's still potential with great practice and I defiantly learned a lot from painting this, so there's still opportunity in the future to recreate this with better results.

But without a doubt I am very happy with this.
