Come with me down in here
Lost in a place of naught
Walk with me; close and near
See what your trust has wrought
Laugh with me joyously
Cares all forgotten now
Cry with me, comfort me
Press yourself to my brow
Be with me ’til all is
Gone but the two of us
Stay with me trapped in bliss
Love me as no one does
What started as a short, potent experiment with dactylic dimeter eventually became something more personal, and more meaningful than that. The meter is still there, and it adds to the piece, but it started off as my main goal and ended up second-in-line.
Dactylic dimeter is probably my favorite meter to work in, because it's how I was taught poetry when I was younger. It's easy to grasp, and a good way of spicing up short-lined poetry.
This was a fun piece to do, but I've had some ideas brewing around my head that don't fit meter quite so well. The upcoming piano pieces don't have any lyrics, the next poem is more stream-of-consciousness, and the next story is... Well after 2 years I think I'm finally ready to do it, so fair warning:
Brace Yourselves.
Porn Is Coming.
This poem (and your soul) belong to me.
