A short piece I wrote as a response to
kaemantis placing Riou in that one picture a while back, where he's out back, moping over the fact he couldn't get the nerve to ask Boris out (YET!!). So, he decides to go home, and spend the rest of the evening with himself and nice home-cooked bowl of miso. However, he's about to get some company.
Not my longest piece (only 3 pages long), and not very deep. But then, it doesn't have to be.
Riou and Elizabeth are MINE!

Riou took his spoon, blowing on it to ease down the temperature. He had a habit of making his miso a touch too hot at times. He drew the spoon gently to his lips, and took a tentative, experimental sip from it. He winced almost immediately; the soup was still too hot. He sighed, and lowered his spoon back into his soup bowl. He would have to wait another few minutes. His gaze betrayed him, and stole up to look upon the clock high on the wall. It was almost half past 8pm. The dance would be well under way by now.
Just as he was preparing to take another sip, the doorbell rang. Riou raised his brow at that sound. Who in their right mind was showing up on his door at 8pm on Friday night? He stood, and walked over to the door, peering through the peephole, closing one eye in the process. He blinked, leaned back, than looked back into the hole. Then he leaned back once more, and undoing the latch of the door, he regarded his visitor. She was a Mewtwo, tall and imposing. Her rather sizeable chest was barely covered by a white silk wrap, similar to what Floritt from school liked to wear. Only on this woman, it was more decorative than actual clothing. She was completely white from head to toe, with deep blue eyes.
“I thought that is was prudent that, as your distant, bored neighbor, I might try to alleviate said boredom with your company by being bored together this Friday evening.” She smiled down at him, and from behind her back, held out a wine bottle. “That and I thought I might share with you a distant piece of the homeland.”
“And it is the opinion of your fellow distant, bored neighbor, that I could not possibly refuse such an offer. Please, Elizabeth-sama, come in.” He said, bowing his head as he opened the door and stepped aside as she floated her figure through the door. Once she was through the threshold, she let her bare feet slowly touch the floor, and regarded him with a warm smile.
“Riou-kun, there’s no need for such formality, especially not with me. You and I have known each other for far too long to require such titles between us. We may have been student and teacher once, but no more.” She said, and with a tilt of her blunted muzzle, closed the door for him, and than she hugged him close. Riou’s tenseness seemed to melt away completely with a long sigh as he leaned himself against her hugging her back. “Ever since you first saw my shop in Downtown, you’ve been avoiding me, Riou-kun.”
He pulled back after a while, looking rather abashed and embarrassed. “Forgive me, Elizabeth-san. I was under the impression that you were perhaps sent to spy on me by my parents.”
She leaned her head back and let out a short laugh, grinning down at him as her head came forward. “Me? A spy? Surely you hold a higher opinion of your former teacher than that!” She barked out a short laugh again. “Besides, you and I both know your father does not approve of me, in any of my aspects.” She said, waving one three-fingered hand dismissively.
“Indeed, he did not.” Riou said as he walked over to the table, and sat himself down. Elizabeth joined him, floating over her bottle and two clear glasses. Staring down at his soup. There was silence, for a long while. It seemed to creep up around them as he sat there, and he brought the spoon to his lips, taking a sip.
“So, why aren’t you at the dance, Riou-chan?” She said, changing honorifics on him as he looked up at her, and he felt his cheeks flush as he looked back down, unable to meet her eyes. “I see…couldn’t get the person you wanted to go with you?”
“Something like that, Elizabeth.” He said softly, “Would you like some miso? It’s still quite hot.” He said, gesturing to the pot. She shook her head, and turned to look around the room. “My parents got it for me when I came here. They may not think this the best option, but if they were going to send me away, at least they made sure I was comfortable.”
“Do you hate your parents, Riou-chan?”
“No, I don’t. I just…I wish they’d listen to a thing that I had to say. I can’t believe I ever managed to evolve, the way it was back then.”
“Indeed, I can understand your pain, Riou-chan. At least you had me though, right?”
“…It’s true. Without you, I doubt I’d be where I am right now.”
“How has life been treating you here?”
“Honestly?”
“Would I ask for anything else?”
“…I like it here. I’ve met people I would never have met otherwise, and I’ve done some fantastic things. But at the same time…sometimes I wish I hadn’t.”
“Why is that?”
“Because eventually I’m going to have to leave.”
“….”
“And I don’t want to leave. This place has been wonderful to me. It’s a lot better than any of the schools father wanted to ship me off to.”
“I wish there was something I could do for you, Riou-chan.” She said, and slowly popped the cork of the bottle, and poured them each a glass. “Now, I know that you normally don’t drink, but since this is a special occasion…”
He smiled and held out his hand to her, taking one of the glasses she offered. “It’s alright, I wasn’t doing much anyway.” He said, and gently clinked his glass against hers. “To….umm….” He had to think about that one. What was there to toast to?
“To mixed blessing.”
“…Thank you, Elizabeth.”
“Always a pleasure, Riou-chan.”
